Not much has happenned over the last week. Enjoyed the days off that I had last week, enjoyed a standard weekend, but didn't really get much out of it - except winning a game of Phase 10 :)

I managed to help Karen out with some assignment work, semaphores in particular. It's sad, but I do actually enjoy programming. I don't get to do a lot of it at work, and I find it strangely satisfying to make something that works. Odd. Anyway, that helped her out, and I got to brush up and understand some concepts better. That's always a good thing.

I also managed to put my back out on Friday, which put me out. I obviously didn't "bend at the knees" moving Michele's furnitute around her house (that was hard work too). Bummer. It's still sore today, although it's much better now that I've been at work. Sitting around all weekend because of my bad back didn't do it any good, but because I've had to move around a fair bit at work, that movement has helped ease the pain immensely.

Horray for work? I'm not going to go that far...

Sitting on the lounge room couch at my mums place, waiting for easter dinner to be served up (I'm such a slack bum, not helping out or anything), typing away on the laptop.

My brother just gave me a copy of "Hand Maid May" to, uh, review, and it's slightly wrong. Has some adult/teenager themes running through what would otherwise be something suitable for kids to watch. I find it mildly disturbing, but more than a little humerous :)

Looking at the Megatokyo Think Geek, I'm regretting that I maxed out my credit card on a stereo system yesterday (only cost a grand!). That Pirogeth Poster looks really nice! So does that book bag, and the blanket. I must suppress visions of my house with block mounted posters hanging from the walls, suspended over endless wall cabinets containing a plethora of anime and manga paraphernalia. mmmm.

I'd say that I've got to do something about all this spending, but who am I kidding? I love buying this stuff!

I do need to watch the pennies though. Purchases such as the stereo system need to be budgetted for. My typical mode of operation is to want, then buy, then suffer (albeit not much) financially for the next two weeks until my next pay check. That's what you get for living in a comfort zone. At the end of the day though, I have no remorse for what I do with my money. If you can't enjoy it, something is not right (#include "reality.h").

Earlier, mum handed me an interesting book on the style of modern Japanese culture. The imagery and descriptions in the book really do show the contrast between western and eastern culture when it comes to their enviroment. Interestingly, reading a book like that makes you more aware of your own cultural values. That's something that I'd like to explore more. I think I'll be checking that book out of the library to have a good read.

So what else does one do while sufferring a religious holiday that you don't subscribe to?

This last week has gone past really fast. Too fast. I almost totally missed it! Does that mean it was a good week or a bad week? Probably means it was a good week. I mean, when you're not feeling like you like the world time seems to just drag on, but when you're in a happy happy mode time just flies past!

Which means that if you're not quick, you miss out enjoying the goodness. Maybe that's why people never seem to be happy? They miss out on enjoying the goodness and only really remember the bad times because they drag out so long?

Enough rambling. Usually by now this has undergone several revisions and edits, however it seems toog enough to pass muster - for now. Maybe by the time I'll get to the end it'll be a different story.

I suppose that if you take a look at the blogs that I've done previously, you could tell what mood I was in at the time. For instance, yesterday's was a completely spontaneous post (todays is similar - just blogging until Michele gets here). I toyed with the concept of taking a statistical analysis at the end of a year and seeing what type of moods I was generally in and what frequency of posts I'd make in those moods - oh wait here she is bye!

Hey, it's Thursday. Must be time for my weekly post :)

Doesn't seem like the blog is really becoming a "part of my life", so to speak. Still, I'll keep on at it. After all, what else am I going to stick up here? <grin>.

This week has been bloody awful, starting off with a fetid piece of dog turd at work. A server that just won't behave. grrr. At least that's over - for now. More shit is happenning to that pile of crap later. The down side of a problem like that one is that you start to feel as though you're just guessing, and that bleeds over into the rest of your mind, and performance drops. I'm hoping next week is better...

Work kindly payed for a whole bunch of staff to get jabbed in the arm by a doctor today. That's right, infect us with three flu virii, and inflict physical pain while you're at it. Not that it hurt, I barely felt it in fact (no, I don't have an aversion to needles). Thing is, I've already had the flu twice in the past month, and it's likely that they're two of the three main ones that they're vacinating against. So that means I'll probably get the third flu in the next couple of days. Hooray! Not.

The new position seems to be okay. Not doing much at the moment except for integrating the systems that we brought across into the other systems, and play around with news servers for a bit, but hopefully next week I'll be able to start making real progress and build that new development environment. Should be fun.

Not so much a musing of what's going on, but more a recap of the last week.
